When it is very windy at the last gate in TMS, I will change to do astronomy at the carpark of the visitor center, abut 200 meters down. However, it seems I will never go there for astronomy again as the light there has been turned on all the night. At night, there is no car can go inside for parking, except staff's. No visitor will take a short rest there. No visitor will use the toilets as they are closed at nights. Why don't keep them off for saving energy?
This spot is not a good location for astronomy, but still much better than my location in Yuen Long. This pic was taken in 2013 at the carpark of the visitor center with

Why so much street light -- LED lights at the last gate
Re: Why so much street light -- LED lights at the last gate
At the last gate in TMS, elevation about 700m, the sky quality is a bit better than that at the visitor center. When it is not windy and no mist/cloud forming there, I would prefer doing astronomy there. But about a few months ago, it is light polluted by LED street light already. So sad of losing such a spot for astronomy rather close to my living area.
