2017 September 24 Sun
I intend to go to the Space Museum for the Solar Eclipse reports, but decide to capture some images when there are cracks in the clouds.
The Sun is relatively quiet these days.
AR12680 has gone, and AR12681 is not too active. A huge area of plages with a large filament is just west of the solar centre.
On the SE edge, a tiny sunspot shows up, with a jet shooting southwards. This jet is seen in the whole-disc image but becomes very faint when close-up imaging starts. However, it erupts a second time at around 06:52 UTC. By the time the cloud gives way at 07:21 UTC, the jet has gone.
Telescope: AP Starfire EDT 155 mm f/9.
stopped to 50 mm (f/28) for disc images, with 4X telecentric lens (f/36) for closeups
filter: Solar Spectrum SO1.5/0.3A with CERF prefilter
Camera: Imperx 4M15

Re: 2017 September 24 Sun
This is an animated gif of the jet-like eruption on the SE limb, coming from a new AR.
The first animation is compiled from 37 frames taken from 06:15 to 07:21 UTC, and the second one from 06:28 to 07:21 UTC
