A trip to Kilimanjaro and Tanzania Safari

我去過最高都係5200m(everest BC),登頂Kilimanjaro感覺好嗎？

Just completed a trip to Tanzania with a group of friends. We went to the top of Kilimanjaro at 5895m - the highest peak in Africa; and went for a safari inside the Tanzanian national parks. It was a tough trip, but memorable. Just want to share with you some photos.

The lion was just on the road side. You can almost touch it!

It is very tough on the summit day. We take off at 11:30pm, ascending 1200m and reaching the top before 6am. The most difficult aspect was that it was not solid grounds! Most of the time it is very loose sand and gravels. Near the top, it was very windy and cold (<-10C). But the most unexpected thing is going downhills. With daylight, we discovered that there were no roads! It was just a sand and gravel slope stretching almost 1000m. If you know how to ski, you can literally ski down. I fell many times and by the time I reached camp site again, I was totally exhausted. Then we have to descend another 1500m for the night. It was a very tough and long day! Comparing to EBC, it is a lot more exhausting. Did you went up to Kala Patthar last time? The view there was breath taking.

Aconcagua sounds tempting. May be next year? But it will not be easy to find company. Interested?

Two different aspects. In terms of cardio-vascular functions, yes, it is better and I do not feel as breathless. But since I have not run for almost a month before the marathon, my muscles are obviously rusting. My leg muscles were very tight and painful, though not yet cramping. I have difficulty lifting my legs during the latter part of the race, so I became very slow. I hope next year I am better trained for the event.

你下個目標, 可考慮歐洲之顛 - Mt Elbrus, 高5642米, 雖然未及 Kili , 但上到 base camp 開始白雪蓋地, 附近高加索山區, 景色也很美 !
