Hi,
Another asteroid occultation event on May 04.
It will be a difficult event as the star is dimmer than the asteroid.
Finder charts prepared from the Digital Sky Survey and The Sky 6 are attached.

(9) Metis / TYC 4957-00316-2 event on 2010 May 04, 14:39 UT
Visible from Taiwan, S China, India


Summary
-------
On 2010 May 04 UT, the 200 km diameter asteroid (9) Metis will occult a 11.1 mag
star in the constellation Virgo for observers along a path across Taiwan, S
China, India.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star
will drop by 0.3 mag to 10.0 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most
22.7 seconds.

This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly
provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys),
and the following catalogs for the star position: .
