Asteroid occultation event on 2019 August 25

Visible from China, SE Asia


Summary
-------
On 2019 Aug 25 UT, the 146.9 km diameter asteroid (51) Nemausa will occult a
9.7 mag star in the constellation Aquila for observers along a path across
China, SE Asia.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star
will drop by 1.65 mag to 11.10 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most
17.6 seconds.

This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly
provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill
Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet
Center.
