24 in telescope - painting work started

Dear ATMs,

We paint the telescope. The color scheme was jointly decided by me and the students – a light blue plus white.

It was not until the commencement of painting did we realize that how much paint ( and hence money ) had to be spent on finish the painting job of this big telescope. We bought 3 cans of blue spray paints and they were finished well before half of the painting job was done. For the OTA, which is scheduled to be painted in white color, we hence decide to paint by hand and brush, instead of spray paint, to save money.

Although a truss tube design, the exposed surface area of the telescope is still very big, thus we spent big money on buying paints. Astonishingly the cash spent will worth more than the 24 inch mirror bank if the whole equipment is to be beautifully painted.

As the attached pictures show, the blue part had been finished and all other areas seen will be painted in white. If you have any idea for the color scheme please supply to us before 1500 tomorrow, before the commencement of the second stage of the painting job.

Dear mr. Alyf,

Thank you for your suggestion. However Japan is a little bit too far away, our telescope has to be fully painted within today.

So we have no choice, just live with the local piants.
